Important
In case you need to specify meta data and descriptions for particular products, you can do it manually. The info you've specified won't be affected by the templates.

Meta tags optimization for products

Ability to inherit templates
If any field of a subcategory template is not filled in, then meta data of a parent category is automatically used for it.

With the Meta Tags Templates tool you can also apply newly created product URL templates to all the products previously added to your store. Therefore, there is no more need to manually rewrite them wasting your time. Just click on the "Apply Templates for Product URLs" and that's it.

Complex variables
Complex variables like {brand|manufacturer|provider}This works great, if for some products you use manufacturer attribute and for others brand or provider attributes. So, for products with brand attribute, brand value will be used for meta tags; for products with manufacturer attribute, manufacturer value will be used etc.
Error Prevention
If at some point attribute values of a product are changed (e.g. color becomes black instead if green; brand becomes Nike instead of Adidas, etc), the extension will automatically use the new data for meta tags, this way meta information will always be correct.
Character limit for meta title and meta description
Google does not 'like' very long meta tags, so it is very important to make sure they are right. It is recommended not to exceed 65 characters for meta title and 160 characters for Magento meta description.
