How to remove "Powered by Shopify"?

There are two main methods to remove the "Powered by Shopify" line: by editing the theme content and by modifying the theme code. However, you may need to use both methods to completely remove the attribution text.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to remove "Powered by Shopify" from the footer by editing the default theme.

Edit the Default Theme Content

1. Access Your Themes:
From your Shopify admin panel, go to Online Store (under Sales Channels). Choose Themes.

2. Edit Theme Content:
From the drop-down menu next to your theme, select the three dots (...) and choose Edit default theme content.

3. Search for "Powered":
In the Filter Items search box, enter "powered". You will see the Powered by Shopify and Powered by Shopify HTML boxes. (The Powered by Shopify HTML box appears on your Opening Soon page.)

4. Remove the Text:
In the Powered by Shopify box, select all the text and press the space bar, delete, or backspace on your keyboard. If you have a password-protected store, also go to the Powered by Shopify HTML box and enter a single space there.

5. Save Your Changes:
Click Save.

Edit the Theme Code

If the "Powered by Shopify" phrase still appears in your footer after editing the default theme content, you'll need to edit the theme code to change the powered-by-Shopify link.

Note: Before making any changes to your theme code, be sure to save a copy of your theme.

1. Access Your Theme:
Go to the online store admin panel and choose Select Themes.

2. Edit Theme Code:
Once you locate the theme you want to edit, click the three dots (...) and then choose Edit Code

3. Navigate to Footer Section:
On the left, you'll see a directory. Click on footer.liquid, and its contents will expand on the right side of the screen.

4. Search for "Powered By":
Use Ctrl+F (PC) or Command+F (Mac) to search for "powered by." This will highlight the "powered by" link in the code.

5. Delete the Code:
Once you've located the "powered by" link, delete the corresponding code.

6. Save Your Changes:
Remember to click Save to apply the changes.
