Guide for Mass Product Actions

Increase the efficiency of the product management in your Magento store. Equip the product grid with the configurable mass actions to update multiple items data in bulk.

• Bulk price modification
• Update the related, up-sell, and cross-sell blocks
• Duplicate custom images, options, and attribute values
• Remove multiple products and/or their images
• Customize the product grid to your needs

To configure the extension please go to System → Configuration → Amasty Extensions → Mass Product Actions and expand the General section.

Enabled Actions — define the list of actions that can be applied from the product grid dropdown menu;

Price Rounding — set the rounding algorithm. Choose By rules of mathematical rounding or To specific value;

Show Categories as Tree — enable or disable the categories tree display for mass actions;

Show Categories as Multiselect Field — when the Show Categories as Tree option is enabled, you can choose to display categories as a multiselect field;

Copy Attributes — specify the attribute you want to copy;

Replace in Attributes — fill in the comma separated attributes that should be modified;

Append Text Position — define the text connection position.

Reindex Data - set to Yes to reindex data automatically; select No to switch off the reindex process after a mass action.

Next, please expand the Product Linking Algorithm section.

This section is used to configure the behavior of the product linking algorithms for related, up-sell, and cross-sell products.

There are three possible algorithms for the product linking. These are Default, 2 Way, and Multi Way.

1. Default means, that relations between products will be built using the standard Magento functionality. You will have to manually indicate related, up-sell and cross-sell items for each product.

1. 2 Way algorithm works in the following way. Say, you have product 1, product 2 and product 3. If you add product 2 and product 3 as up-sells (or related/cross-sell) for product 1, only product 1 will become an up-sell (or related/cross-sell) for product 2 and product 3. Hence, product 3 will not become an up-sell (or related/cross-sell) for product 2 and product 2 will not become an up-sell (or related/cross-sell) for product 3.
2. Multi Way algorithm implies the next scheme: you have soap, shampoo and toothpaste. If you add shampoo and toothpaste as related (or up-sells/cross-sell) to soap, all these products will become related to each other — soap and shampoo will become related (or up-sell/cross-sell) to toothpaste; toothpaste and soap will become related (or up-sell/cross-sell) to shampoo.

Related — define the linking algorithm for related products;

Up-sell — define the linking algorithm for up-sell products;

Cross-sell — define the linking algorithm for cross-sell products;

Please navigate to the product grid Catalog → Manage Products.

You can modify the list of the available actions in the extension settings.

Tick the products you want to modify. Then, select the required action from the Actions dropdown menu.

Now, let's examine all the available actions in details.

• Assign Category
• Remove Category
• Replace Categories

With the extension, you can assign, remove, and replace categories for selected products.

When trying to assign, remove, or replace a category, than you will need to specify the category IDs or select ones from the multiselect menu.

Hit the Submit button to perform the selected mass action.

To use price- and cost-related actions you will need to fill in the By field to increase or decrease the value.

To decrease prices by 20%, indicate -20% in this field. To increase prices by 10%, indicate +10%. Specify +10 to increase prices by 10 dollars/euros/etc., and -10 to decrease prices by 10 dollars/euros/etc.

The Set Special Price option enables you to set special prices for chosen products for a determined period of time. This is especially convenient when planning to launch an advertising campaign. Plan and prepare for the campaign early: specify the date the prices should be changed and the date they should get back to the original. You don't need to change prices precisely on the first day of the campaign.

To create the new product linking using the Default algorithm, please, do the following:

1. Select the products you would like to relate (make up-sell or cross-sell);
2. Indicate ID of the product to which you would like these products to be related to (selected to ID) or specify several IDs that should be linked to the selected product (IDs to selected);
3. Click the Submit button.

To create the new product linking using the 2 Way algorithm, please, do the following:

1. Select the products you would like to relate (make up-sell or cross-sell);
2. Indicate ID of the product to which you would like these products to be linked;
3. Click the Submit button.

To create the new product linking using the Multi Way algorithm, please, do the following:

1. Select the products you would like to relate (make up-sell or cross-sell);
2. Click the Submit button to make all the selected products linked using the Multi Way algorithm.

To copy the related (up-sell or cross-sell) linking, please, select the required products. Then, choose the required action, and fill in the ID of the product to copy the linking from. Hit the Submit button, when done.

To remove linking, select the products and the appropriate action. Next, choose one of the three available options:

• Remove relations between selected products only
• Remove selected product from ALL relations in the catalog
• Remove all relations from selected products

Hit the Submit button, when ready.

The extension enables you to quickly copy custom options, attributes, and actions to other products.

1. Select the product from which you are going to copy information;
2. Select the required action;
3. Specify the IDs of the products to which you would like to transfer information;
4. Hit the Submit button.

To remove images from selected products, please, do the same and choose the Remove Images action.

• Change Attribute Set

To change the attribute set, follow this instruction:

1. Pick the necessary products;
2. Select the action;
3. Choose the attribute set that should replace the current one and press the Submit button.

• Append Text
• Replace Text

Append and Replace text actions are used to quickly modify the text in particular attributes.

This is how you can replace text:

1. Specify attributes where the text should be modified in the general settings;
2. Select the required products with this attribute on the product grid;
3. Choose the Replace text action;
4. Fill in the text that should be replaced, than the → symbol and than the text to replace;
5. Click Submit.

To append the text:

1. Select the required products;
2. In the Append field fill in the attribute that should be modified, than the → symbol and than the text to insert;
3. Click Submit.

• Fast Delete

The Fast Delete action lets you delete any number of products very fast. In comparison with the default Magento delete action it works much faster and allows to delete a larger number of products in one operation.

Please select the necessary products, choose the Fast Delete action, and click the Submit button.

• Change Visibility

With the module, you can modify the visibility of the multiple products:

1. Select the required products;
2. Choose the Change Visibility mass action;
3. Select the new visibility status;
4. Click the Submit button.
